TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

Wednesday, October 26

  • Opening Scientific Session (2 pm - 3 pm):  Rose Auditorium

    • 2:00 - 2:05 pm. Welcome from the organizing committee

    • 2:05 - 3:00 pm. Keynote: 40 minute talk + 15 min questions
       

  • Ping Pong Tournament (3:15 pm - 5 pm): 2nd floor atrium

    • Ice-breaker ping pong tournament to determine the speaker order for the next day. Speakers may participate themselves OR elect a "champion" to represent them Game-of-Thrones-style. A special faculty bracket will determine who will represent the faculty for Thursday's slide karaoke activity. Refreshments provided by Carnegie. 

Thursday, October 27th

  • Morning Scientific Session (9 am - 12 pm): Rose Auditorium

    • 9:00 - 9:05 am. Introduction by session chair

    • 9:05 - 9:35 am. Talk #1: 25 min talk + 5 min questions

    • 9:35 - 10:10 am. Talk #2: 25 min talk + 5 min questions

    • 10:10 - 10:45 am. Talk #3: 25 min talk + 5 min questions

  • Coffee Break (10:45 am - 11 am): 3rd floor atrium

  • ​Morning Scientific Session Continued (11 am - 12:30 pm): Rose Auditorium

    • 11:00 - 11:45 am. Talk #4: 35 min talk + 10 min questions

    • 11:45 - 12:30 pm. Talk #5: 35 min talk + 10 min questions

  • Lunch (12:30 pm - 1:30 pm): Cafeteria

    • Catered lunch provided by Carnegie with spooky Halloween crafts! 

  • Afternoon Scientific Session (1:45 pm - 4:00 pm): Rose Auditorium

    • 1:45 - 1:50 pm. Introduction by session chair.

    • 1:50 - 2:50 pm. Lightning round: 5 min talks + 1 minute questions

    • 2:50 - 3:20 pm. Talk #6: 25 min talk + 5 min questions

    • 3:20 - 3:50 pm. Talk #7: 25 min talk + 5 min questions

    • 3:50 - 4:00 pm. Closing remarks from the organizing committee​

  • Happy Hour & Slide Karaoke (4:00 pm - 6:00 pm): Cafeteria

    • Snacks and beverages provided by Carnegie.​

  • Scary Movie Night (6:00 pm - 8:30 pm): Carnegie lawn (weather permitting)

    • Pizza and popcorn provided by the Belin lab. Movie selection TBD.​

LOCATION

All events will be held at the Carnegie Institution's Maxine Singer building, located at 3520 San Martin Drive on the Homewood campus. Parking is available at the adjacent San Martin garage.
